Properties:
In normal conditions, Fluorine is colorless, Heavy Fluorine gas appears yellow and green, it is yellow when liquid and darker when solid, has strongly pungent odor and strongly toxic, m.p. -219.62°C, b.p.-188.14°C , It has a strong oxidation, can easily react with all elements except inert gases and N2.,and get fluoride. It can also react with most of hydride, such as H2O, ammonia. Fluorine react strongly with organic compound and lipid , even burning, and get oxygen fluoride and fluorocarbon, also get stable chain and ring fluorocarbon.
Application:
For its strong oxidation, it is widely used, it used in glass etch, surface passivation of metal materials and piping, it's used as rocket push chemical in national defence. High purity F2 is also used in electron, medical, technic researching areas. F2 react with sulphur and carbon, get SF6 and CF4,they are good materials for electric insulation and arc suppression. It replaces Cl for new refrigeration, reducing air pollution and the damage for ozonosphere. F2 react with Cl, get ClF3, which can used as strong fire setting chemical , rocket push chemical and the activator for air line oil .
Packing and Transport: In seamless steel cylinder . it should be transported when it is compounded with N2 or other inert gases, the ratio should be 20%:80%,and has a clear danger symbol.
